Al Wahrhaftig, Professor Emeritus, Anthropology

Colleagues, we are saddened to report another death among our beloved emeritus colleagues, AL WAHRHAFTIG, Professor Emeritus of Anthropology. He died this week after a long battle with bladder cancer.

His erstwhile colleague Tom Rosin writes the following of Al: One of our most talented of teachers, as well as a superb writer, Albert was a major contributor to a department that loved being intellectually engaged with one another. I miss him for not only his articulateness and his mastery of many writing genres, but also his love for discovering tasty venues for dining on the cultural riches in food found in the Bay Area and Sonoma County. In his later years, he brought his clarinet to numerous gigs to join fellow lovers of music.
