Report of the Chair of the Faculty – (L. Morimoto)

2. Passing of Victor Garlin – Praise for all of his service on the Academic Senate, CFA and FSAC. He advocated for issues with well-informed and thoughtful information and a strong opinion for what should be done.  He was congenial and respectful of each individual person’s opinions even if you disagreed with his opinion. Consistent set of values he held and championed.

Victor was spoken about for 10 minutes at the top of the meeting in Chair Morimoto's report by her and myself.  Also President Lee, Provost Moranski, and Vice Chair Burton at the top of their reports told a personal story about an interaction with Victor.

3. Discussion on lack of internal room locks in new Stevenson Building (and other rooms on-campus).  Concern of the ability to lock rooms from outside intrusion in active shooter scenarios.  President Lee will have Ahmed look at this issue as an emergency management policy and training. Also a Fire Marshall (police) issue of access to a room.
