Report of the Chair of the Faculty – (L. Morimoto)
- President Search / No information nor talked about at CSU Board of Trustee (BOT) Mtg.
- Title IX Audit law firm team was at SSU but people did not know / they will return. Will make
closed-door report to BOT with a public report.
- Police recognition awards from BOT / 2 or 12 where from SSU.
- AB 928 Single Path for Transfer / range of work at different CSU’s / To be enacted Fall 2025
Special Reports –
Peoplesoft fluid navigation of new MySSU Demo (S. Pettit)
- New functionality with no elimination of current pages. Tile set-up with Navigation Compass
Training sessions starting week of October 10 th going live on October 17 th .
Business:
1. Revision to Human Subjects Policy - Second Reading – (H. Smith)
- Approved with no discussion 22-0
2. FSAC: Sunset Recommendations: Faculty Merit Increases: Criteria & Procedures and
Faculty Merit Increase Appeals – (R. Whitkus)
- Part of old collective bargaining agreement. Since no longer have these in collective bargaining
FSAC asks AS to remove these two policies / Passed 22-0
Standing Reports
1. Interim President of the University – (M. Lee)
- Today is beginning of Spanish Heritage Month
- SSU Student won BOT Student Award
- Consultation process for 23-24 and 24-25 Budget needs to start with Univ. Budget Planning
Committee then Academic Senate, Staff Council and Associated Students.
- Formed President’s Senior Leadership Council to meet 2x per semester of Cabinet, Deans,
Academic Senate Chair-Vice Chair, Staff Council President, Associated Student President, Police
Chief and Athletic Director.
2. Provost/Vice-President, Academic Affairs – (K. Moranski)
- Answer ? Why Loss of Students: Loss of FTFY from Southern CA during pandemic (40%
decline almost all from outside local area students) / same 2021 class / we never stopped
recruiting in SoCal – they just stayed closer to home – we are seeing increases through
recruitment efforts in students from SoCal, Bay Area, Sacramento and Central Valley for 2022 /
NorCal Campuses suffering versus SoCal Campuses – population density in south and college
ready students in NorCal dropping / Community College student levels are down.
- Answer ? Higher Cost of SSU: Housing 5 different choices to make more affordable – problem

- Association for Interdisciplinary Studies Conference ais.sonoma.edu hosted at SSU Nov 10-12.

- Need Faculty and Staff for WASC Steering Committee are needed. Next institutional report is
due in 2 years. WASC wants the committee to be continuous ongoing group.
- In-person courses Spring 2023 Target percentages around 70-75%. Currently at 71% / by
school 63% to 83%. Aim for higher percentage for GE LD courses of 75-80%. Will confer with
CFA.
- Reorganization in Academic Affairs / Consultation with AS, CFA and committees going to shift

of Academic Affairs and she will take over WASC process and GI 2025. There will be no search.

7. Statewide Senator - (E. Newman)
- AB 928 / Singular Transfer Program CC, CSU and UC – Cal-GETC: Statewide wants feedback
to support (with recommendations), reject, or unable to come to consensus on. Do we change
our GE program for FTFY to match Cal-GETC. Reduces units in GE Area C Arts & Humanities
and elimination of Area E Lifelong Learning. Feedback to ASCSU by October 24th. Discussion
about consultation. Has been discussed in GE and EPC committees. We do have an impact
statement from last year. Decided to have Senators from each School take back to their schools
as they feel appropriate (Curr Comm, Chair’s Council, all faculty) and give feedback to AS
Analyst Spires by Monday Oct. 3 rd at 5 p.m. AS Chair Morimoto will send out material and
directions on Monday September 19th.
- Compact with Governor for CSU funding of 5% with many metrics.
- CSU BOT put study from outside firm on hold about Faculty Salary.
- Title IX Audit firm spent 2 hours with Statewide AS.
